16 de agosto de 2024: Se lanzó la primera Ronda Estatal de Cáncer de Próstata de Georgia1 (GPCRT). Esta fue una iniciativa desarrollada por todos los miembros del Comité Directivo y socios del Consorcio de Control de Cáncer de Georgia2 (GC3), junto con la Sociedad Americana del Cáncer3 (ACS).
Los miembros multidisciplinarios del GC3 han trabajado colectivamente como una unidad para mejorar los resultados de salud y cánceres en todo el estado de Georgia. El GC3 se formó en 2008 a través de esta colaboración, y la Coalición Hispana de Salud de Georgia4 (HHCGA), bajo la dirección de Shirley E. "Bella" Borghi, Directora Ejecutiva y Vicepresidenta, ha sido miembro del consorcio desde su inicio.
La iniciativa del GC3 fue diseñada para reducir de manera decisiva el impacto de todos los cánceres en nuestras comunidades a través de la educación, pruebas, tratamiento, calidad de vida y supervivencia de los pacientes con cáncer y sus familias.
La reunión demostró de manera tangible todos los esfuerzos multidisciplinarios del GC3. Rana Bayakly, BA MPH, experta en datos sobre cáncer en todas las comunidades del Departamento de Salud Pública de Georgia5 (GDPH) en cáncer de próstata, detalló el estado actual del cáncer de próstata en Georgia.
