It was an evening of great anticipation. Beginning with a convivial sharing time where there was much genuine laughter and comradery on display. The formal proceeding began with this statement from Gary D. Nelson, PhD, president, Healthcare Georgia Foundation: “It is the Foundation’s honor and privilege to recognize and uplift these health heroes and the important work they accomplish within their communities. Their dedication, passion, and selflessness in this work is a true inspiration, and we thank them for their tireless efforts.”
The first award recipient was Shirley E. “Bella” Borghi who serves as the Executive Director and Vice-Chairman of the Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia. Bella’s achievements at HHCGA have been numerous, and her untiring efforts to secure equitable access to healthcare on behalf of the Hispanic and underserved communities, speaks loudly and eloquently to her life’s purpose and passion.
